An exhibition of six artists of the middle generation of contemporary Hungarian glass artists recognised at home and abroad
An exhibition of six artists of the middle generation of contemporary Hungarian glass artists recognised at home and abroad - Péter BORKOVICS, Bernadett HEGYVÁRI, Kyra LÁSZLÓ, Mihály MELCHER, Balázs SIPOS and Ágnes SMETANA - opened at the Ferenczy Museum in Szentendre on 24 February.
Their works reflect the changes in glass art over recent decades, resulting in the creation of images and sculptures of autonomous value, often imbued with philosophical profundity of thought, rather than useful objects. The ideas of the artists are less bound by the constraints of the genre. Consequently, the technical experience acquired over long years contributes increasingly to the representation of the themes and subjects chosen, enriched by the optical effects and symbolic meanings derived from the properties of glass.
